About Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn Molo was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Kaitlyn is in Junior High and maintains Honors level marks. She enjoys being with her family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, reading and playing video games (Sims 3, Rock Band and Guitar Hero).

Kaitlyn was first introduced to the sport of Taekwondo one month prior to her 6th birthday. It was her very first class that she knew she had found her sport and passion.

Within 2 years of starting Taekwondo, Kaitlyn was competing as a member of the 2005/2006 Elite Taekwondo Edmonton Sparring Team. Kaitlyn competes in 2 events, Patterns (a succession of offensive and defensive movements against an imaginary opponent) and full contact Sparring (WTF Olympic style fighting - fully geared), in every tournament.

Since her first tournament in 2005, Kaitlyn has competed in 17 tournaments in Alberta and out of province, as well as various Inter-Club tournaments. In 2007, Kaitlyn earned her Junior Black Belt at the age of 10 years old. She was one of the youngest martial artists ever to earn that honor at Elite Taekwondo Edmonton . When writing an essay on the subject of "What Taekwondo Means to Me ?" and "What Your Goals Are?", Kaitlyn confirmed that she wanted to obtain her 2nd Poom (Degree) Black Belt and to represent Canada in the Olympics.

Kaitlyn has earned Provincial and National Champion status in Sparring for her weight category. As well, she was the recipient of the 12th Hiyas (Gem) Award from the Karilagan Dance Society (Filipino community group) in the category of Sports.

Although her Taekwondo training consists of a minimum of 3 evenings per week during the sparring team season, she will train up to 4 evenings per week and on weekends (total of 7 to 9 hours/week) while maintaining Honors marks at school.

Kaitlyn continues to be committed and determined to achieve her goals. Her perseverance will ultimately bring her success in Taekwondo and in life.
